State and National Officers Visit Capital Roots Urban Farm

During National Officer Tour, the New York FFA State Officers, our National Officer Candidate, Catie Rowe, and Stephen McBride, the National Southern Region Vice President, all had so many opportunities to see New York agriculture, and New York FFA members in action. One of these opportunities had students from several different chapters working together to make an impact on a community garden called Capital Roots in Troy, New York. Students were invited to participate in this State FFA Hunger service event..

Capital Roots works to reduce the impact of poor nutrition on public health in New York’s Capital Region. The work that these FFA members put into making the Capital Roots community garden great, not only helped the garden flourish, but helped people in the community who don’t have access to the nutritious food that they need.

Erin Langdale, the New York FFA State Reporter said, “FFA members truly are living to serve. The hard work that these students put in to make their communities grow is amazing. These students took time out of their day, to get their hands dirty, and really make a difference in the world around them.”
