2016 TENTATIVE inTENse Itinerary
inTENse planning is currently underway and our experience is still under construction, but, check
out the opportunities we are working hard to finalize for 100 tenth graders throughout New York!
Monday, August 1: Day 1 - Conference Orientation:
- Students arrive from throughout NY directly to SUNY Alfred for a welcome lunch and orientation
and then check into that evening’s lodging (SUNY Alfred).
- On campus, students get to know each other and are introduced to agriculture as an industry
before an evening activity and discussion and a night on campus.
Tuesday, August 2: Day 2 – SUNY Alfred & Industry Tour:
- Students eat breakfast & attend a hands on experience on campus (May include the Vet Tech
Program, the school farm and other opportunities).
- Students board busses after time for the campus store and travel to an agricultural business
tour/lunch.
- After dinner, students will travel to and check into that night’s lodging – Cornell University –
participate in group discussions and evening recreation.
Wednesday, August 3: Day 3 – Cornell University & Ag. Education Discussion
- Students eat breakfast & attend hands on experiences on campus
(May include Dairy Science, Food Science, Plant Breeding/Genetics, Agricultural Marketing, International Agriculture, Veterinary Science, etc.)
- After a campus tour and time for the campus store, students discuss agricultural education
pathway options.
- After lunch, students will travel to agricultural business tour and check into that night’s
lodging – SUNY Morrisville – participate in group discussions and evening recreation.
Thursday, August 4: Day 4 – Morrisville State College & Industry Tours
- Students eat breakfast & attend hands on experiences on campus
(May include: Equine Rehabilitation Center, Dairy Farm/Incubator, Ethanol/biofuels, Sustainability, and Greenhouse/Floriculture).
- After lunch and time for the campus store, students board buses and travel to agricultural tour opportunities.
- After dinner, students will check into that night’s lodging – SUNY Cobleskill – participate in
group discussions and relax.
Friday, August 5: Day 5 – SUNY Cobleskill & Celebration
- Students eat breakfast and attend hands-on experiences on campus.
(May include: Wildlife/Natural Resources, Greenhouses/Turf Grass, Mechanics/Equipment/Engineering, Meat Processing).
- After a campus tour and lunch on campus, students will have a little time at the campus store.
- There will be a break and an opportunity for parents/advisors to arrive to celebrate student
participants during a conference send off with light refreshments and opportunities for students
and parents to once again visit with college representatives. Students will depart directly from
SUNY Cobleskill.
