State FFA Convention

Plans are well underway for an exciting and rewarding NYS FFA Convention.

Refer to the Convention Menu to the right to find preliminary information that will be helpful to you in planning to attend this year's event. Please let us know if you need additional information.

Dates:

  • Thursday, May 2nd (registration opens at noon) till Saturday afternoon, May 4th, 2013 at Albion High School in Albion, NY.

Convention fees:

This year's Convention fees are $25 per FFA chapter and $15 per student participant. Late registration fees will be an additional $20 per person.  These fees are established by the FFA Governing Board and used to cover the costs of State Convention activities.

Meals:

Meal Plan details will be made available as soon as they are finalized.

Specialty meal functions will be offered to highlight various FFA programs. Tentatively, they will include a Proficiency Dinner Thursday night for Proficiency candidates, advisors and guests, a delegate luncheon for chapter delegates and State Officer candidates on Friday at noon, a CDE Participants Dinner on Friday evening for any CDE participants at any level, and of course the Empire Luncheon on Saturday for Degree recipients, advisors, family, and guests. The menu / food at these meals are the same as all other meal plans, however, seating is reserved at these functions and include a speaker or awards recognition component. TICKETS FOR THESE FUNCTIONS MUST BE REQUESTED / RESERVED AT TIME OF RESERVATION. NO ON-SITE TICKETS FOR THESE EVENTS WILL BE AVAILABLE. PLEASE INCLUDE ALL PARENTS AND GUESTS.

T-Shirts:

Convention T-shirts will be made available at a pre-order cost of just $5 per shirt or $10 at the Convention site. Pre-orders may be made at time of registration with the cost added to the registration fees. 

Career Show:

A great opportunity to Career Show featuring colleges, universities, and business and industry is planned for the 2013 State Convention. Many of these exhibitors are also corporate sponsors and major supporters of our FFA and State Convention. A listing will be made available prior to arrival at Convention.

Activities:

Between convention sessions and Career Development Events, students will have the opportunity to explore the career show, attend leadership and career workshops or travel to several tours.  Complete workshop and tour descriptions will be made available in advance of the convention.

Career Development Events (CDE's):

State qualifiers and final rounds of 24 technical and leadership skills Career Development Events. Students can take part in any number of these events or watch, learn, and observe as others compete by demonstrating their talents, aptitudes and abilities. Many of the CDE's serve as qualifiers to the National FFA Convention. Check out what is available to your students at:

Guest Speakers:

An awesome lineup of motivational, informational, and inspirational will be present at this year's Convention. In addition to our retiring addresses made by state FFA officers, these presentations will undoubtedly impact your students. Watch for details in the Convention announcements.
