State Fair Competition

The New York State Fair is held at the State Fairgrounds located in Syracuse. State fair provides a plethora of opportunities for our FFA members. Over fifteen of the Career Development Events take place at state fair along with opportunities for students to develop displays and public demonstrations to engage visitors in the FFA building.

  • Agronomy, Dairy Evaluation, Dairy Foods, Dairy Handler, Diesel Engine Troubleshooting, Environmental and Natural Resources, Forestry, Horse Evaluation, Livestock Evaluation, Meats Evaluation and Technology, Nursery and Landscape, Poultry Evaluation, Small Engine Troubleshooting, Tree ID, Vegetable Crops, Wildlife ID.

Dates:

  • The New York State fair starts at the end of the August. The 2012 fair is scheduled for August 23rd -September 3rd, 2012.

For a select number of the Career Development Events, second place teams will advance to the Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield, MA. Information for this contest venue can be found at www.thebige.com/fair/agriculture/FFA.asp. For other CDEs, winners will advance to the National FFA Convention.
