Members diagnose the trouble in a small gas engine that prevents an engine from starting, operating smoothly & maximum power output & then making proper adjustments for its operation.

  • NY Contest Description: This contest is a New York Only event which means winners of this event do not advance on to a national level. Teams shall consist of two FFA members from the same sub-district or school FFA chapter. Participants must provide their own safety equipment and are expected to wear clean coveralls, shop coats, FFA jackets or an FFA shirt. Each individual will take a timed, hands-on test with topics/tasks such as ignition system timing, valve tappet clearance adjustment, or 2 or 4-stroke carburetor adjustment. Participants will also be judged on observed safety procedures, a written quiz on gas engine principles and troubleshooting, and identification of parts and tools. LINK TO DESCRIPTION
