The purpose of this event is to recognize the contributions of the handlers in presenting each animal to its best advantage for the dairy cattle participants in the evaluation of the dairy cows and heifers during the Dairy Cattle Evaluation Career Development Event.

  • NY Contest Description: This contest is run concurrently with the Dairy Cattle Evaluation CDE. The top four contestants will go on as a team to compete at Eastern States Exposition in Springfield, MA. The first place individual will represent the state at the National FFA Convention. Contestants are expected to wear white pants, a white shirt, and work boots/shoes are recommended; FFA shirts are acceptable; harnesses for contestant numbers will be provided. Contestants will be judged on the following: personal appearance of contestant; presentation of animal in the ring; control of animal by contestant; skill and knowledge in showing animal; poise and calmness of contestant; and timeliness. Only the contestant's performance will be considered—NOT the animal's condition or conformation. Contestants may not show their own animal and are expected to show several animals throughout the contest. A maximum of 32 participants are allowed. LINK TO DESCRIPTION
