Test your knowledge on water samples and fish identification.

Participants in the Aquaculture Career Development Event will be asked to complete a 50 question general knowledge exam and a practical applications test. Topics may include water quality, aquaculture systems, fish diseases, identification, and more.

State Rules:

1. General knowledge test of 50 questions – in any of the following formats:

  • Multiple choices
  • Matching
  • True/False
  • Fill in the blanks

2. A three part practical position will be present. This could include team problem solving, as well as, performances of specific tasks. General knowledge topics covered MAY include:

  • Water quality (i.e.: pH, NH3, DO, NO2)
  • Fish diseases (i.e.: cause, symptoms, treatments)
  • Fish anatomy and physiology – body organs/systems and functions
  • Life cycles of aquatic organisms
  • Aquaculture systems – types and designs
  • Nutrition (i.e.: feeds, feeding, nutrients)

Practical topics MAY include:

  • Fish identification
  • Fish anatomy
  • Species selection
  • System design
  • Disease identification/treatment
  • Water quality testing
  • Nutrition/disease treatment calculations
