The New York FFA Governing Board is a group that meets several times a year to discuss and act upon issues that affect the New York FFA Association. It is composed of state officers and district trustees. The Governing Board is basically a group of representatives for the FFA that decide upon matters that face the FFA members in New York.
What exactly does the Governing Board discuss? Typical issues that come across during meetings include proposed constitution changes, chapter news, and many ideas to improve various areas that the FFA is involved in. Complex issues are briefly discussed and usually assigned to a committee – consisting of both adults and state officers. Board members review packets of information before the meetings, and then act on the issues at hand. If a constitutional change is proposed, the State Advisor must notify local chapter at least 30 days prior to the Annual Meeting (State Convention) of the State Association, be reviewed by the State Board of Student Officers and by the Board of Trustees, and submitted by the State Officers with recommendations to the delegates at the Annual Meeting. An amendment to the State Association Constitution may be approved at any Annual Association Business Meeting by a 2/3 vote of the delegates provided a quorum is present.
