Agriscience Fair
Members will demonstrate leadership and human relation skills necessary to become a productive member of society by utilizing information-based technologies.
Agronomy
Members will complete a written exam; demonstrate skills of plant identification, crop selection, production and marketing. To demonstrate understanding of sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship practices.
Dairy Cattle Evaluation
Members complete a written exam relating to the dairy industry; evaluate cattle on physical characteristics using linear classification and pedigrees, and give oral reasons explaining their placing of a class. Team members cooperatively analyze a herd record.
Dairy Foods
To enhance learning activities related to milk quality, federal milk marketing, attributes of milk products and substitutes for them.
Dairy Handlers Activity
Evaluate members’ abilities to properly show dairy cattle. Judging is based on poise of the handlers and their abilities to display their best advantage. States may nominate at least one participant in each division.
Environmental /Natural Resources
Teams are given a written exam, a team will develop an oral and written statement that addresses the questions in an environmental scenario. Identification of key environmental issues will be addressed.
Horse Evaluation
Members evaluate and rank horses breed conformation and performance. Members cooperatively complete a series of problems over equine selection, management, nutrition and production. Members present oral reasons on three placement categories.
Livestock
Members evaluate beef cattle sheep and swine on physical characteristics and records for market and breeding usage. Members give oral reasons explaining their placing of certain classes.
Meats Evaluation and Technology
Members complete a written test; judge quality, yield and grade of beef carcasses; evaluate and place beef, lamb and pork carcasses. Members also complete meat formulation problem and cooperatively fulfill a beef carcass order.
Nursery/Landscape
Members complete a written test; identify plant materials and landscape plans; demonstrate practical nursery/landscaping, propagation, potting, pruning, plant disorders, weed identification and control, merchandising, plant material measurement, and interpersonal relations and salesmanship.
Poultry
Members evaluate chickens, turkeys, processed products and eggs; give oral reasons on the placing of their classes; identify poultry parts and complete a written general knowledge exam.

Agricultural Electrification
This contest consists of 3 parts: a test on principles & problems, identifying and testing electrical devices, and wiring a circuit from a wiring diagram.
Diesel Engine Troubleshooting
Members diagnose the trouble in a diesel engine that prevents starting, smooth operation, and maximum power output, then make proper adjustments for its operation.
Small Engine
Members diagnose the trouble in a small gas engine that prevents starting, smooth operation & maximum power output & then making proper adjustments for its operation.
Tree ID
Members will demonstrate skills necessary in basic forestry management procedures, matching true statements with tree names.
Vegetable Crops/Horticulture

Wildlife ID
Members will develop skills necessary to basic wildlife management. Identify a number of specimens or items related to specific wildlife families.
