Career Development Events
Team competitions and classroom instruction come alive as students use their skills in a competitive setting. CDE’s help develop technical knowledge, judgment, reasoning and sportsmanship. Three activities and 16 competitive CDE’s are held at the national level, testing the skills and knowledge of individuals or teams in the major areas of agricultural instruction in leadership.
Levels of Competition
District Events
There are 10 Career Development Events students may participate in at the district level.
Once students have competed at the district level and are recommended by the judges to move to the next level of competition, they then will compete at their Regional Sub State Event (*PLEASE NOTE: A maximum of the top 4 students in each event area per district may move up to the Sub State level of competition).
Regional Sub State Events
The same 10 Career Development Events take place at the Sub State level.
Regional Sub State Events are held in 3 locations around the state. Eastern Region includes Districts 1,2 and 4. Central Region includes Districts 3,5,6 and 7 and the Western Region includes Districts 8,9 and 10. The top 2 students in each of the Career Development Events from each Regional Sub State Event will then move up to compete at the State Convention held in May.
