Agricultural Communications
The purpose of this event is to provide individuals with basic communication skills necessary to take advantage of career opportunities in agricultural communications. Public communications about agricultural products, practices and policies are essential to the future of agriculture. Students who are equipped with strong communication skills and who can use a variety of media to help the public understand issues related to the agricultural industry have a bright future in the job market.
Agricultural Issues Forum
Agricultural issues are researched analyzed and presented in a group discussion panel to local teachers and community members. Identification, topic research and analysis of issues are communicated about the selected topic.
Agricultural Mechanics
Members complete a written exam, demonstrate problem solving and hands on performance skills. Systems of emphasis include machinery and equipment, industry and marketing, energy, structural and environmental/natural resources.
Agricultural Sales
The objective of this event is to develop the skill sets necessary to be successful in sales by improving communi-cation skills, product knowledge, sales process and main-taining customer confidence in you and the product.
Creed; Jr. Division.
This event includes both an oral presentation as well as answering questions directly related to the FFA Creed. Each contestant must recite the FFA Creed from memory. Jr. Creed is for 7th, 8th and 9th graders.
Extemporaneous Public Speaking- Sr. Division
The extemporaneous speaking event requires participants to deliver a speech on one of three agricultural topics after they are given 30 minutes to prepare the four to six minute speech. At the conclusion of the speech, the judges may question the speakers for five minutes. Decisions are based on factors similar to the prepared event held, as well as other leadership activities and events, to give members additional opportunities to develop speaking skills.
Farm Business Management
Members demonstrate knowledge and abilities in applying economic principles to agriculture and agribusiness by completing a written exam and solving farm analysis problems.
Floriculture
Members demonstrate proficiency in plant identification, judgment includes flower arranging, propagation, preparation of floral and foliage products for sale, plant disorders, merchandising and a job interview.
Food Science and Technology
Members complete a written exam, a team product development and a practicum in food safety and quality as well as sensory evaluation.
Job Interview
Members will develop, practice and demonstrate skills needed in seeking employment in the agricultural industry by writing a cover letter, resume, follow-up letter and personal interview.
Marketing Plan
Members develop marketing skills through the development and presentation of a plan that promotes a current or proposed product, supply or service.
Parliamentary Procedure
Members complete a written examination and then demonstrate their proficiency at using correct parliamentary procedures in conducting meetings. Participants discuss chapter events during their mock meetings.
Prepared Public Speaking -Sr. Division
The prepared public speaking event requires participants to write and deliver a six to eight minute speech in front of a panel of judges. Scoring is based on the written manuscript, the delivery of the speech and the answers to the questions.

Aquaculture
In this event students will demonstrate their general knowledge in several topics related to water quality, fish diseases, aquaculture sytems and general nutrition. They will do this with a test, and team pratical.

People in Agriculture
Members will develop a poster board of people in different fields of agriculture and then prepare a summary and be able to discuss the job requirements associated with those jobs.
This contest is available to 6th, 7th and 8th graders.

Small Animal Care
This event is open to senior FFA members. There are three skill areas that the team participates in: a phone interview, persona interview and a grooming scenario. Students are also expected to be able to identify Dog and Cat breeds and parasitology. Students are scored individually and as a team.

Discussion Meet
This event is an activity designed to build crucial skills in young, active agriculturalists. By participating, members build basic discussion skill, develop a keen understanding of important agricultural issues and explore how groups can pool knowledge to reach consensus and solve problems.

Junior FFA members will identify forty agricultural tools and materials and complete a ten question matching test of tools to their use. Teams may consist of 3-4 students-the lowest score is not considered except in the case of a tie.

Junior Chapter Meeting
Members work together as a team to demonstrate the proper procedures associated with FFA chapter meetings including: Opening and Closing Ceremonies, officer and committee reports, and disposal of business items using parliamentary procedure. The event is open to all Junior FFA members and consists of a chapter meeting quiz, demonstration of a chapter meeting, and answering questions related to the demonstration.
